Does Bribery Change Voting Outcomes in Tami Nadu? Historical Evidence says no

If we take the time machine to go to year 2006, we will find the political situation reversed. The AIADMK was facing the electorate as the incumbent government. To ensure re-election, they allegedly stooped to large scale bribery of woman voters by distributing gold nose rings. Then it was the DMK in opposition that raised hue and cry.
Did these bribes help? The voters in fact sent Jayalaithaa to hibernation and humiliation. So will history repeat itself this year with roles reversed?
We bring a news report by The Hindu with dateline Oct 12th, 2006.

CHENNAI : The city police arrested three AIADMK partymen on charges of bribing voters with gold nose rings in Valasaravakkam police station limits here on Wednesday.

Police said that the arrests were made after an investigation launched on a complaint to the State Election Commission by DMK candidate Ganapathi.

The arrested were identified as Kasu Mani, Suresh and Murugan, all of the AIADMK. Each gold nose ring weighed 100 gm. Cases under Section 151 (bribery) have been registered against the accused and remanded to judicial custody.

  1. Dear Sir,
This has perhaps happened in one constituency in a clumsy manner. But DMK syndicated it and institutionalized it and also implemented in wholesale constituencies across the state. Of coure you will not list all the money cases of DMK (since this is a soft supporting DMK blog). You would sensationlize microscopic seizures but would not report blantant issues like minister's kin hiding 5 crores on top of bus,A raja's brother being caught redhanded, and of course the news that DMK outnumbers other parties in money distribution in a scale unknown in independant india

Since you discuss elections and oblivouse to DMKs corruption , the creditbility of your writings are creating doubt.
I dont want this to be a Just Another Blog but a vehicle for independant thoughts. Blogger's responders may be biased but as I say
Ceaser's wife should be above suspicion.
    Sadly it is lacking

Was there a wave against DMK?
Despite the bravdo of DMK, ground reports from friends and media sources say there was an urge for change in Tamilnadu. This time people may have accepted money but voted for change!
No opinion poll other than Nakkheeran predicts DMK front ahead. Of course exitpollopinionpollsindia.blogspot.com also Obliquely seems to agree with Nakkheeran.
    Vikatan,kumudam.lensonline,Marg headlines today,
Outlook MRB,tamil leader.in, IB report centre,Pudiyapaadai,IB report state think DMK is losing.
Can every Survey other than Nakkheeran be wrong including state and central agencies?
Truth Dive website walks the balance with one report favoring DMK and other AIADMK but has not commissioned any poll or survey.

So is there a final nail in the coffin. Lets read this detailed article
